BEENNAMWEEL EAST WEDGE TOMB |
PHOTO by Pip POWELL APR 2010 |
A wonderful almost intact wedge tomb that is located on the south eastern slopes of the Boggeragh Mountains which are north-west of Cork city. It is aligned more east-west than the normal north-east to south-west for wedge tombs but this maybe to do with the restricted view in the south-west direction. The walling on the south-side has collapsed inwards and two of the three capstones lean heavily against the walling on the north-side which remains upright. It was about 4m in length and 1.5m at its widest. |
