This wonderful re-constructed stone fort is located in rough grazing land, broken by a
rocky outcrop, on top of a NE-SW ridge. The circular area measures 22.5m N-S and
22.5m E-W,and is enclosed by a stone wall 2m in height and 3m in width, repaired
before 1860. The entrance to the ENE is 1.4m in width with a sentry chamber just to
the north side. The foundations of a rectangular structure,5.2m in length and 5.1m in
width is off centre to the west. There is a souterrain south of this and a
cross-inscribed
stone in the interior south of the entrance. A second stone with rock art and cup-marks
lies outside entrance. The site known locally as 'Knockdrum'.
