|KNOCKANEREAGH Stone Pair
|Not marked on the Historical maps but on the modern OSI (DS 2nd Ed. No. 86)
map as ‘stone pair’, is situated in pasture in undulating countryside, with a
coniferous wood to the north and commanding views to the south & west towards
the Shehy Mountains, west of the R587. This stone pair of rough quartz stones
stands 0.75m WNE of a boulder-burial (CO094-130003) with rising ground to the
east, aligned ENE-WSW and an overall length of 2.9m. The ENE stone stands 1.4m
from the WSW stone and measures 1.2m in height, 0.8m in width & 0.7m in depth.
The stands 1.4m from the WSW stone measures 1.05m in height, 0.7m in width &
0.6m in depth. A second boulder burial (CO094-130001) lies c. 23m to the NNE.
