|TIRNONY PORTAL TOMB

|This fantastic small portal tomb consists of a single chamber, covered by a capstone
sloping inwards and is supported on 2 portal stones. Five other stones form the back &
side walls,1.2m in height. A single stone at the west of the portal could be part of a
facade or court, as with court tombs. The chamber measures 2.8m in length and 1.5m
in width. The capstone measures 2.8m in length,1.38m in width and is 0.8m in depth.
Currently the Northern Ireland Environment Agency and Queen's University
are conducting an excavation of the tomb ( Oct 2010 ).
