TULLYGARRAN 1 OGHAM STONE, COUNTY KERRY
DRAWING of TULLYGARRAN OGHAM STONE, COUNTY KERRY
This ogham stone was discovered here in 1848, along with 6 others, after a storm
uncovered an ancient burial-ground overlooking Smerwick Bay in Kilvickillane. It was
subsequently transferred in 1848 to Chute Hall, near Tralee, where it remains. The
stone stands 0.96m in height and is 0.51m in width at the base, narrowing to 0.18m at
the top. Parts of the inscription have worn away and it is now difficult to reconstruct.
(Macalister, 1945). What remains reads as: 'LUBBAIS  MAQQI  DUN....S'.
