CLOONMORRIS OGHAM STONE

This ogham stone was dicovered in 1908 standing opposite the eastern gable of the
church.In the church at Cloonmorris,Co.
Leitrim. It was removed sometime before 1978
and placed upon a pedestal near the entrance to the grave-yard,now a flower bed, in an
invert (top-down) position. It measures 0.86m in height, 0.30m in width, 0.18m in depth
and was is composed of silurian grit. The inscription is on two angles but it is badly
damaged, what remains reads "QENUVEN" and was dated by Ziegler at around 400 -
550 AD. Inside the church is a small
bullaun stone again on a pedestal.
