| BALLYNAGALLAGH MEGALITHIC TOMB ( LEABA NA MUICE ) |

| This Megalithic Tomb, marked on the OS map as 'Leaba na Muice' meaning 'The Pig's Bed', is located close to the south shore of Lough Gur, 'Loch Goir', on a slight northerly slope, east of the town of Holycross, 'Baile na gCailleach' and 750m west of the wedge tomb at Lough Gur, in an area known as 'The Red Bog'. The tomb, aligned NE - SW, consists of one upright side-stone at NW, a back-stone at SW and a prostrate side-stone at SE. The small roof-stone has collapsed SE and now lies on top of the fallen SE side-stone. The small chamber, 1.5m x 1m, contains small stones that maybe cairn material but no other evidence of cairn or mound survives. |
