|BALTRAY STONE PAIR
|This stone pair is situated on the edge of a ridge, overlooking a raised beach and the
sea to the east. There were three stones at the site, but only two are now visible. The
two stones are large, shaley slabs set 9m apart. The north stone is the smaller and
measures 1.8m in height, 0.9m in width, 0.4m in depth and is orientated NW-SE. The
south stone measures 2.9m in height, 1.2m in width, 0.3m in depth and also orientated
NW-SE. Local researchers have discovered that the Baltray standing stones have a
Winter Solstice alignment, confirming local mythology.
