| This Wedge Tomb, marked on the OS map as 'Dermot & Grania's Bed' but not marked on the Historic map, is located north of Bekan Lough, west of the town of Ballyhaunis, 'Beal Atha hAmhnais', just off the R323. The tomb, orientated NE - SW, is opposite a row of modern homes and the local community have cleared the ground around it, placing gravel on the surface and giving easy access to the tomb. The 5m long gallery is lined on both sides by four erect orthostats, leading to the chamber, 2.3m in length and 0.80m in width which is covered by a single roof-stone, 1.7m in length, 1.45m in width and 0.30m in depth. The back-stone is in place and the entrance of the tomb is marked by a single erect facade stone at the south. |
