This fantastic Court Tomb, marked on both Historic and OS maps as 'Cromlech', is
located on the steep, south slope of Slievemore, 'An Sliabh Mor', overlooking Keel
Lough to the south, on the north side of Achill Island, 'Acaill'. The tomb, orientated
towards the top of the mountain, has an open court, 4m across that leads into a gallery
2.5m in length and 2m in width. The chamber measures 2.1m in length, 1.8m in width
and 0.85m in height and is roofed by a large slab, 2.7m in length, 1.8m in width and
0.25m in depth. The orthostats on the east side of the gallery have fallen inside and the
cairn, 7.5m in overall length, has slipped down the mountain side to the south. A very
spectacular tomb in a very picturesque setting.
