| This wonderful Stone Circle, marked on the Historic map as 'Cromlech' and on the OS map as 'Stone Circle', is located east of Carrowmore, 'Cearthru Mhor', overlooking Rathfran Bay to the east and north of the town of Killala, 'Cill Ala'. The circle, with an unknown orientation, consists of 15 boulder-like stones, 1.4m in average height, on a level platform 8m in diameter. The circle remains intact on the north and west sides but many stones on the east and south sides have fallen and some are missing. There is a megalithic tomb of unknown classification 30m SW of the circle. |
