This large, ruined Wedge Tomb, marked as 'Cromlech' on both the Historic and OS
maps, is located on a level platform, south east of Carrowmore, 'Cearthru Mhor',
overlooking Rathfran Bay to the east and north of the town of Killala, 'Cill Ala'. The
tomb, orientated NE - SW, consists of two rows of boulder-like stones, 10m in length
and with a height of 1.7m, and inside these are smaller orthostats forming a double
walling. The interior of the gallery is filled with cairn material, with no evidence of any
roof-stones and the entire structure is sited in a shallow depression. The Ogham stone
at Breastagh is 600m NW and the wedge tomb at Breastagh 1.1 km NW.
