This passage tomb also known by its Celtic name,'The |Mound of the Hostages' was
excavated in 1956-9. It consists of  a mound,21m in diameter and 3.5m high, covering
an undifferentiated passage-tomb which is 4m in length, opening to the east and is
divided by three still stones. Just inside the entrance on the left is a large stone with
some fine examples of rock art,consisting of concentric circles and cup marks. Cists
and pits were inserted into the  mound in the Late Bronze and early Iron Ages.
