

| CASTLEQUARTER WEDGE TOMB |

| This small wedge tomb, not marked on the OS map, is located next to a field boundary, on a slight east facing slope, in a shallow hollow. The tomb, orientated E - W, consists of a small chamber measuring 2.5m square, two side-stones on the north side and one on the south side, an in situ,quartz encrusted roof-stone measuring 2.4m in length, 1.2m in width and 0.40m in depth and another roof-stone, displaced to the north. There is a blocking stone at the entrance to the chamber that suggests an anti- chamber or portico at west. The chamber floor is 0.60m below present ground level. |
