This fine Portal Tomb, marked on the Historic map as 'Druid's Altar' and on the OS
map as 'Cromlech', is located in good, level pasture, next to a railway track, north of
the Boyle River, 'An Bhuill', just off the R294 and west of the town of Boyle, 'Mainistir
na Buille'. The tomb, orientated NW - SE, is relatively intact and consists of two well
matched portal stone slabs, 2.3m in height, supporting a massive, rectangular shaped
capstone, measuring 3.8m in length, 3.6m in width and 0.80m in depth. The capstone
has slipped backwards and the rear of the capstone rests on one of the side-stones. The
other side-stone has fallen into the chamber, 2.2m in length, and the back-stone is
missing. The entrance to the chamber is blocked by a  door-stone, measuring 2m high.
