| This portal tomb is one of the finest in Sligo if not Ireland. It is located on the summit of a small hill with Drumcliff bay to the south. The massive capstone has now slipped to the back and measures 3.4m in length,2.9m in width and 0.50m in depth. The tomb has two very large portal stones still in place and they measure 2.7m & 2.4m in height. The tomb extends back for another 5m with much of the cairn material now piled inside the chamber. Lying on top of one of the wall stones are 2 stone basins & 1 half basin with an unusual double holed stone and a small stone with appears to have ogham script on one side but this would be from a later date. The whole tomb is well preserved and well worth a visit. |
