Goles stone row is situated on the lower southern slopes of Oughtvabeg mountain on
the north side of the Glenelly Valley, this site lies at an altitude of about 230m (700 feet
OD). It as noted by antiquarians early in the 20th century when it was still included in
a field boundary and wrongly thought to be the remains of a megalithic tomb. The
stone row is 16m in length, orientated north-south and could be focused on a small
hollow on the summit of Carnanelly mountain to the south, and maybe be associated
with observing the rising moon. It consists of eleven stones, varying in height from
0.65m to 1.60m. Some of the stones are placed with their wide faces at right angles to
the direction of the row and is probably early Bronze Age in date.
