| This rare Leinster Boulder Burial, not marked on either the OSI or Historic maps, is located on the north side of a deep ravine of the River Gally, a tributary of the River Slaney, ‘An tSlaine’, 500m west, east of the N11 and south of Enniscorthy Town, ‘Inis Corthaidh’. It is sited at the foot of a small cliff and consists of a large,sub-rectangular roof-stone, measuring 2.1m in length, 1.7m in width and 0.70m in depth, which is supported by five boulders that range in size from 1m to 0.60m. During a clean up of the site by a local heritage group in the 1980's, a digger accidentally smashed the SE support boulder and it was replaced by concrete blocks. Access is difficult so permission from the owners is advisable. |
