BALTYNANIMA ROCK-ART |
This fantastic piece of Rock-Art was originally located north of the Avonmore River, 'An Abhainn Mhor', which is SW of the town of Roundwood, 'An Tochar', but is now located inside the front garden of a bungalow, south of the town of Roundwood. The boulder, measuring 1.2m in length and 0.60m in width, has three cup-in-circles, (two side by side in a figure eight) off centre to the north. North of these are seven more cup marks across the north edge of the stone. SW of centre, along the SW edge of the stone, are five more cup marks, running in a line. An absolutely beautiful piece of art that dates to the Bronze Age, it would not look out of place in any of the great Neolithic passage tombs in the country. |
