BOLEYCARRIGEEN STONE CIRCLE
THE GRIDDLE STONES
This wonderful stone circle was once hidden away by forestry but this has now been
cleared. It is situated on a low E-W ridge with extensive views to the north, east and
south. Known locally as the 'Griddle Stones'. The circle is 13.5m in internal dia; and is
defined by eleven evenly spaced upright stones 1.3-1.8m apart. The entrance,1.3m in
width, is at the SSW and the stones appear to rise in height from the entrance (1.3m) to
the tallest stones (1.4 - 1.88m) at the NNE. The circle is on the inner edge of an earthen
bank  which is 1.75m at the SE to 2m at the SW,at a height of 0.4m. There are no
stones in the NW quadrant or at east.
