BOLEYCARRIGEEN STONE CIRCLE
THE GRIDDLE STONES
This wonderful stone circle was once hidden away by forestry but this has now been
cleared. It is situated on a low E-W ridge with extensive views to the north, east and
south. Known locally as the 'Griddle Stones'. The circle is 13.5m in internal dia. and is
defined by eleven evenly spaced upright stones 1.3-1.8m apart. The entrance,1.3m in
width, is at the SSW and the stones appear to rise in height from the entrance (1.3m) to
the tallest stones (1.4 - 1.88m) at the NNE. The circle is on the inner edge of an earthen
bank  which is 1.75m at the SE to 2m at the SW, at a height of 0.4m. There are no
stones in the NW quadrant or at east.
