This wonderful stone with carved faces is located in the front garden of a modern
house along the driveway. It is not in it's original location which may have been the
early Christian church at Rathdown Upper 120m to the SE or the castle 200 east near
the beach. There are two faces on the stone and measures 0.50m in height and is 0.47m
in diameter at the base. The first face is a carved relief and appears to have a beard
suggesting an early monastic setting. The second face is more weathered suggesting an
exterior location or door archway and it protrudes from the stone. It is not marked on
the OS map nor is it recorded in the National Monuments Inventory.
